Event Summary
- Location: Sydney, New South Wales
- Time: Full-day (approx. 9:30 am–2:30 pm)
- 9:00 am: Depart Sydney CBD
- 10:00 am: Refreshments on arrival; Safety briefing; Acknowledgement of Country; Introduction to Walkabout (who we are, what we do, why we do it)
- 10:30 am: Meet the free-ranging kangaroos, emus and wallabies; Walkabout tour to experience the workplace and facilities; discussion of volunteering opportunities (animals, bush, cultural sites)
- 11:00 am – 12:30 pm: Eco-volunteering “Ranger for the Day” project work (activities may include enclosure refinishing, animal enrichment, path maintenance, bush care)
- 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm: Lunch and refreshments
- 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm: Behind-the-scenes animal encounters with species such as koalas, wombats, echidnas, cockatoos, reptiles, and others ‘on request’
- 2:30 pm – 3:00 pm: Boomerang throwing activity
- 3:00 pm: Return to Sydney by 4 pm
- Transportation: To be arranged (Sydney CBD as central meeting point)
- What to bring: Comfortable clothing, walking shoes, hat, sunscreen, reusable water bottle, and a readiness to engage with sustainability themes
