The Team Volunteering at The Tasmanian Arboretum experience offers your team a chance to reconnect with nature while contributing directly to the care and preservation of one of Tasmania’s most cherished green spaces.
Spanning 66 hectares of breathtaking landscapes, the arboretum is home to a rich collection of global tree and shrub species — with a special focus on the flora of the Southern Hemisphere. You’ll work alongside passionate caretakers, participate in conservation and maintenance activities, and enjoy a guided walk through this living museum of biodiversity.
And for a truly unforgettable moment — witness the elusive platypus at “The Absolute Best Place to See a Platypus in Tasmania.”
What You Can Expect?
- Hands-on conservation work including garden maintenance, weeding, mulching, and tree or plant care
- Tree planting and restoration activities contributing to the health of the arboretum’s unique ecosystems
- Guided walk and wildlife encounter, with the chance to spot platypuses in their natural habitat
- Insight into the Gondwana Collection, featuring ancient and rare plant species

Event Summary
- Location: Tasmania
Time: Half-day or full-day (customisable depending on team needs) - Sample Schedule:
- 9:30 AM – Arrival and introduction to the Arboretum team
- 10:00 AM – Guided walk and orientation tour of the grounds
- 11:00 AM – Conservation and maintenance tasks (weeding, mulching, planting)
- 12:30 PM – Lunch break in the picnic area (BYO or catered upon request)
- 1:30 PM – Continue volunteer activities or join an educational session
- 3:00 PM – Platypus viewing and team reflection
- 3:30 PM – Closing discussion and farewell
- What to bring: Comfortable outdoor clothing, gloves, hat, sunscreen, reusable water bottle, and enthusiasm for hands-on work
